Black Matter Salon
Black artists living in Oregon are invited to participate in a salon-style group exhibition presented by Art in Oregon at Studio 516 in Portland’s Pearl District in June–July 2026.
The goal of this exhibition is to expand the BLACK MATTER Family by welcoming emerging and established artists to share work in a vibrant, salon-style show celebrating the breadth of Black artistic voices in Oregon today. It’s an opportunity to be in creative conversation and community with each other.
ADX 7th Annual Summer Skate Deck Show
Launching June 5, 2026, the ADX Summer Skate Deck Show returns with a simple prompt and open possibilities: each artist transforms a skate deck into a work of art. With only a few logistical guidelines, participants are given complete creative freedom, resulting in pieces that stretch, disguise, and reimagine the familiar substrate into something entirely new.
This year’s exhibition brings together 220 artists presenting 270 works, spanning the Portland region and beyond. What unites the collection is a shared commitment to making, experimenting, and showing up for a deeply rooted creative community.
Now in its seventh year, the show continues to evolve under the direction of curator and ADX manager Syd Spencer. Each iteration has expanded in scale and ambition, and in 2026 her focus turns toward strengthening ties between ADX and Portland’s skate community, creating space for collaboration and spotlighting the talent emerging from the city’s most beloved skate hubs.
All works will be available for purchase throughout the run of the show, June 5–30. Artists retain 100% of their sales, with ADX taking no commission. Supporting the Summer Skate Deck Show is a direct investment in local artists—their practices, their livelihoods, and the creative ecosystem that defines Portland. Artist websites and social channels are linked to each piece, offering a deeper connection to the work and its maker.
The opening celebration will feature live music from Unkle Chip, Mend, High Glow, Clarity, and Spare, alongside a full gallery of decks to explore. Step outside to the ADX Art Park for additional activations, including Skate Like a Girl’s zine station and finger skate bowl, a screenprinting setup from Crete Creeper, and more vendors to be announced.
Beverages will be provided by True North Bars, with food offerings from Cobra Dogs and neighboring carts just around the block.
The ADX Summer Skate Deck Show is a vibrant convergence of art, skate culture, and community. Don’t miss it on June 5th!

Black Infinity House: Presented by Columbia Center for the Arts & Black in the Gorge
“The Black Infinity House art exhibit is focused on highlighting the visions, expressions, experiences and imaginations of local, black artists across multiple mediums.
The premise of the show comes from a concept I grasped when reading The Black Aesthetic II. The early pages of the book’s discussion illuminate the fact that Blackness is infinite. People may try to define what it means to be black; but it comes in all different forms, especially as we, as a people, constantly create new spaces and phenomenal forms of culture in order to to express ourselves and own our incredible
This artists’ showcase is an experiential exhibit with three quadrants in the gallery that together are meant to demonstrate black art through the process of its creation, consumption and cultivation. Art will be displayed in three sectors called The Studio, The Living Room, and The Porch, respectively.”
